If you're a Star Trek fan, you haven't seen the new movie yet, and you don't want to spoil anything, DO NOT READ THIS! However, if you'd like a little bit of warning about the movie, keep reading.
Star Trek takes 98% of everything that we all know and love about the franchise and wipes it clean! Seriously . . . just about everything has been undone. The only things that are safe from the permanent timeline changes is the Enterprise series and Ambassador Spock. Everything else never happens. No more Picard. No more Janeway. No more Sisko. Everything in the original series never happens. Vulcans are an endangered species. Pike is never horribly disfigured.
Now, don't get me wrong; the movie is good, and worth seeing. But, you'll have your heart ripped out left and right. I'm left pondering if a) the movie will be accepted by the fans as canon, and b) how Majel Barrett feels about all of this.
Now, if they make a second movie that goes back and fixes the timeline, I think everyone will be happier.

Well, I've gone through and transferred many of the posts. Some were deleted that could be misconstrued, damaging my character and giving folks the wrong impression of me.
Many posts have been moved to the Disney Experience. If you want some art-related reading, head on over to Roxie Art, and if you want some Halloweenish stuff, visit Doorless Chambers.

I found this video about the Grizzly Flats Coach 5, which was purchased by Ward Kimball, one of the members of Walt Disney's Nine Old Men. Ward was the creator of Jiminy Cricket, among other popular animated characters.
Ward's coach, along with both of his steam engines, the Emma Nevada and Chloe, can be seen up close and personal at the Orange Empire Railway Museum. I recommend visiting on a weekend or holiday since that's when the various trains run. You might even catch one of the two Disneyland-looking engines out on the tracks!

Oops! I've been meaning to post an update, but I've had little time to really delve into the little niche things like this blog. Rest assured, I am fine. I've simply been engaged in other projects that are bringing in money. With today's economy the way it is, I need to collect every penny.
I also had some free time, while I was ill, to rethink my priorities. So, I'm also in the middle of those changes. One thing that I may be doing soon is editing/deleting many of these blog entries. As a freelance artist, the sole representative of a popular Disney fan site, and an independent contractor for the Disney Interactive Media Group (that still seems unreal), I now have to consider how the public views me. Things that are read can be taken differently and put me in a bad light. If I have to edit out too much, I may consider shutting the Head Shrinker down permanently.
Since I have a blog on my art website and Doorless Chambers, I'm spread kinda thin anyway. Who knows. We'll see. Nothing's written in stone yet.

Well, I got my computer back, and I've only had to re-install one program. That's some really good news! Unfortunately, while the computer was out, I developed a painful medical problem that has forced me to cease all work, both personal and client.
I can only sleep an hour or two at a time before being woken up by either pain or a hellish nightmare. The rest of the time is spent trying to find ways of coping with the pain, eating, and getting rid of dumb commercial jingles that keep popping up in my head. On top of that, I have developed a cold, which makes me feel even more miserable. Needless to say, the urge to do any type of work has flown out the window.
I did manage to get online to write this quick note, though. That's got to count for something, right?

Well, I finally did it. I crashed my computer (missing/corrupt system file). That means no site updates, no artwork, etcetera. It's too bad, too, because I was working on figuring something out for the Disney Experience's tenth anniversary. Oh well. I couldn't come up with anything anyway, so this will give me some time to brainstorm.
I keep all of my files on my computer's secondary hard drive as well as an external hard drive (back-up). The main hard drive is what runs the computer, so if it has to be wiped, it shouldn't affect my files at all. I just have way too many important files that I simply cannot lose.
The computer should be fixed within the week, so it shouldn't interrupt anything. If I do have to make any site updates, I guess I'll just have to do it the old-fashioned way. I just hope it doesn't cost me an arm and a leg to get back to "normal."

I just returned from a LONG afternoon and evening. I spent four hours listening to the Polka Family Band, which I guess would be considered my first concert. It was a little long for me, but I enjoyed myself. The band is family that I don't get to see very often, and this was my first chance to see them play in public.
I took a few short videos with my camera if anyone is interested. Be warned: their type of polka is combined with mariachi, and the lyrics are usually in Spanish (maybe polish, too). I think the only three original band members left are my aunt Nellie (tambourine), cousin Frank (drums), and cousin Hank (trumpet & lead singer). Frank will be leaving the band to become a professor of music, and my aunt participates less and less since my uncle Hank passed away a few years ago.
